Senior Applied AI Engineer – C#/.NET & Generative AI

The Opportunity

We’re partnering with an established international SaaS organisation that is expanding its Product Engineering capability in Newcastle.

They’re looking for a Senior Applied AI Engineer who is fundamentally a strong software engineer but has moved beyond simply using AI tools and has hands-on experience building AI capabilities into applications and products.

You’ll work across modern C#/.NET product engineering and applied Generative AI, helping take AI use cases from discovery and experimentation through to reliable, secure production solutions.

What you’ll be working with

• C# / .NET / ASP.NET Core
• Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• RAG / Retrieval-Augmented Generation
• AI search, embeddings and vector retrieval
• AI agents / agentic workflows
• Model and API integrations
• React, Angular, Next.js or similar modern frontend technologies
• SQL Server / PostgreSQL
• Azure and/or AWS
• REST APIs and distributed systems
• CI/CD, Git and modern DevOps practices

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced C#/.NET Software or Product Engineer with strong full-stack fundamentals and demonstrable experience applying AI within real software solutions.

We’re particularly interested in engineers who can demonstrate experience with areas such as Azure OpenAI/OpenAI, RAG, LLM orchestration, AI agents, prompt engineering, vector/semantic search, model evaluation or local LLMs.

Crucially, your AI experience should go beyond using Copilot, Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT as coding assistants. We want to hear about AI functionality you’ve personally helped design, integrate and engineer into applications or products.

Experience considering security, responsible AI, model reliability, grounding, guardrails and production observability would be particularly valuable.

The Package

Salary: Up to £80,000 depending on experience

Location: Newcastle

Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite

Position: Permanent, Senior Applied AI Engineer
