We are working with an online-first insurance broker, who are expanding their dynamic data team to embark on some new and exciting projects.
The Role
As a BI Engineer, you'll be a pivotal part of our journey, reporting to the Head of Data and Analytics.
Your mission? To work with intricate, value-rich datasets spanning all aspects of our operation. Beyond technical prowess, you'll showcase commercial acumen, exceptional customer service skills, and a hunger for growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Elevate and maintain our Data Warehouses.
- Collaborate in migrating our on-premise data framework to Azure.
- Craft, deliver, and sustain a state-of-the-art PowerBI solution for enterprise reporting.
- Identify opportunities for operational process enhancements and automation, leading the charge.
- Act as an operational Business Analyst, supporting data processes and providing guidance to end users.
- Resolve issues related to reports, datasets, and other systems efficiently.
- Seamlessly integrate 3rd party data resources and APIs into our framework as they become available.
- Offer expert insights to refine the company's Data Strategy.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Expertise in databases and related systems.
- Proficiency in SQL Server DBA duties, including query optimization, indexing, SQL Agent jobs, SQL Profiler, user maintenance, and security.
- Strong ETL, SQL, and data modeling skills, with a proven track record of implementing Kimball data modeling theory.
- A fervor for data and a history of using it to drive business improvements; business acumen is a must.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Experience in gathering business requirements and devising technical solutions.
- Proven delivery of enterprise-level dashboards and reporting solutions (PowerBI, Tableau, Qlikview, etc.).
- Real-world experience integrating with 3rd party data sources and web APIs.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively when championing initiatives at an executive level.
Location
This position is based out of their offices in Hampshire, with the added benefit of flexible hybrid work arrangements. Please note that regular office presence will be required (2-3 days a week in the office)
